§ 74-62. Membership; appointment of members; term of office.

  • The city planning commission shall consist of seven members who shall be selected as follows: Three members shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council. One of the three mayor's appointments may be a current member of the city council. The remaining members of the commission shall be appointed by the city council. All members shall be selected from among the duly qualified electors of the city. Each appointee shall be designated as the city council's or the mayor's appointment, and such designation shall follow his term of office. After the existing members' terms expire, all subsequent appointments shall be for four year terms, provided that any appointments to fill unexpired terms shall be for the balance of the term of the member being replaced and in the same manner prescribed in this section. The term of each appointed member shall be four years, or until a successor takes office, except that the terms of the existing members shall remain in effect until said member's term expires. If one of the commission members is a current city councilmember, that person's term shall serve at the pleasure of the city council.
