§ 58-4. Service of process; summons or summons and complaint.

  • (a)

    A summons or summons and complaint issued pursuant to this chapter shall be served personally upon the defendant and a copy given to him.

    (b)

    In lieu of personal service, service may be made by leaving a copy of the summons or summons and complaint at the defendant's usual place of abode with some person over the age of 18 years residing therein or by mailing a copy to the defendant's last known address by certified mail, return receipt requested, not less than five days prior to the time the defendant is required to appear.
